    Default Yellow Beauty

I've seen other yellow phals similar to this. I have two labels in the pot and don't know if either is correct..... one is Phal I-Hsin 'Sunflower' and the other is Golden Amboin x Yukimai. So any help which might be correct....or maybe both.....neither

I'm guessing one is the cross and the other is the clonal name. When you see a "X" between two names, that is called the cross or 'grex' (i think). When you see a name enclosed in ' ' marks, such as 'Sunflower', that is usually the clonal name. Since you had two plant tags, maybe it was because they forgot to put it all on one or there may not have been room on one tag for the entire name.

Hi, the grex I-Hsin Sunflower is from the cross Phal Taipei Gold x Phal Brother Nugget, so I am afraid that it is not the same cross as the other tag. That cross, Golden Amboin x Yukimai, is actually called Tinny Golden Sun.

I can only suggest that you google both plants and see if one of them looks totally unlike your plant and if the other does looks like yours . That might give you an idea of which it is.

Unfortunately if they do look very similar you may never know, as phals are just so hybridised that they can end up with the same proportion of species influence as each other, despite having gone down a completely different crossing and hybridisation route. The fact that they both have gold in their name, does suggest that they are both going to be yellow blooms. But, it may be that they are very different sized plants etc, so have a look.

Brilliant yellow, but I cannot begin to guess what the correct name for it would be. I have seen several yellows like this one at shows. Good luck.

I believe that your phal is in fact Dpts.Sogo Manager. Yes, it's me again, the yellow phal freak.

    Less probable are:

    Phal Easter sunrise "glory"

    Phal dragon's gold
