    Default Phalaenopsis hieroglyphica

Sold to me as Phalaenopsis fasciata. Don't get me wrong; a plant is a plant, is a plant. It blooms and you are happy.
Still, I think vendors are accountable for stuff like this, right?

I totally agree with you, especially if you take into account the fact that some species are more expensive and/or rare, and that you may already own the species that it turns out to be. However this is a really beautiful hieroglyphica! Although something made a snack of the tip!

Truly beautiful, and yes, I agree, vendors should be accountable for their plants.
I think mine is a bit young to blossom but it is showing great growth and might come through for me this year.

Very nice Nelson, and I'm sorry that you were disappointed by the vendor.

I think that it is something that vendors should be responsible for, as their reputation will be based on the service that they provide. If it were any high street retail business and they fail to provide the items that they are selling, people would be entitled to take things back and demand what they paid for. And if orchid vendors fail to deliver on their promises, their business will ultimately suffer as word gets around that they do not provide the plants that they state that they will.

    Sorry, didn't mean to rant.

Oh Nelson, so sorry. However since you're disappointed you could send it to me. Hehehehehe. Really Nelson it's very lovely. You gotta love that lip. Did you contact the vendor? What did he say, will he make good on it. If not you should definitely take him off your list.

I have to admit I looked at the picture and thought "hmm.. that looks exactly like the lueddemanniana I bought last weekend" but I know nothing and so I kept my mouth shut. I'm glad someone else thought the same thing as me!

I still like it, ID confused or not!

    Default Phalaenopsis lueddemanniana

From that part of the Philippines, Jim Cootes has suggested that there are natural hybrids between lueddemanniana and hieroglyphica.

The two of you could be right.

Phalaenopsis bastianni is also a confounding species in the lueddemanniana complex. Actually, P. pallens looks a lot like them too, save for the pale yellow base color, and so does P. fasciata, which has a brighter yellow base color.
