Sorry, forgot to check this post....
The spikes are both supported, one with double sticks, to support the weight and both are only beginning to spike out so it's going to get interesting.
Amazingly, I found these in the very back of this local growers greenhouse. They were sitting totally neglected in a mass of old phals and phrags that were amazing. I have no idea why this guy leaves them in this shape. They usually have more roots of the weeds than of the orchids and usually almost no potting stuff left. They are forgotten back there. The guy sold them to my friend for $10 apiece!
Florida is a plant lovers paradise....down in Homestead area and areas of the Keys they sell ground orchids in pots the size you usually find small trees in and they are selling for a little over $10 as well. One road going from Homestead up to the main highway would be an orchid collectors dream. I passed a sign onetime that read Blooming Phals $5 Sale, I would have hit the brakes but I'd have been rear ended by about a half dozen tailgaters!! lol Gotta love those two lane country roads.
Thanks for all the nice comments.....I'll be sure to update this when they get completely bloomed out.
