It really is a beauty! I have a soft spot for one of my noids as well--it blooms like crazy on multiple spikes etc. Phals are just a tough category at shows--there are lots of them etc. I know you were disappointed not to get a ribbon, but at least your phal clearly loves you! What a show--spectacular.

That is an impressive display of flowers.
Even if they did not award the plant, I think they should have awarded the grower for a job well done.

Geoffrey, I'm sure it would have got the same awe inspired comments from viewers at the SWROGA show as we are giving you now because it is indeed a wonderfully flowered Phal., and you know, if your plant has inspired someone to go out and try their luck with a Phal, then it has done its job!

I probably give it more light than phals need, I want the underside of the leaf to be as purple as can be around the edges. Right now, the underside is all green because of the winter light, but when I brought it indoors last november, it had half inch purple margins on the underside. And, I left it outdoors until mid-november, I think that two weeks of really cool nights helps to set the spikes for next year, although I think that mine probably had a month of cool nights. That's pretty much it.

    Hi Geoffrey,
You say that this phal was the start of your orchid addiction.
Just, curious what other plants do you have in the mean time... ?
If they all look like this noid, then you are for sure a real natural!
