    Default Phal Irene Dobkins

This just opened. Tim, someone I met online works at a boxstore in Ohio and had shown this flower a loooong time ago. I contacted him and found he had family near me. I asked him if there were any more since my local bigbox had none. They did and he brought me two....neither were in the best of shape...not Tim's doing, since he knows something about chids...just the kind of thing that happens in big box stores. Anyway, one isn't doing so well but like most of us I'm holding out hope until the fat lady sings. The other is doing just fine! We/I don't believe the name on the tag is correct, but it is a beauty anyway! Thanks Tim.

This one is a beauty! I am sure glad that you saved them from the store. Hope the other one recovers and blooms soon.

Stunning but Irene Dobkins, I am, not sure ???? Irene Dobkins is a Asconopsis a cross of (Phal Doris x Ascocentrum miniatum). It is a lovely peachy orange and the 'Elmhurt' clone carries an HCC/AOS I believe.

Here is a pic of Irene Dobkins...Adam, I did not check RHS registration to make sure there is not a Phal Irene Dobkins but you may wish to do that.

Thanks, Ron, I don't believe the label either. When I got the plant, I googled it and what I found was just as you have said, both the 'Elmhurst' and 'York' clones are a peach/orange solid color and not at all like the flower on my current plant.

just found time to check..there is no Phalaenopsis with that name. Only the one one I mentioned

    Royal Horticultural Society - Research

There is a possibility that this is a product of a seedling cross using the same parents but I have never seen, in the market, more than mericlones of the awarded plants. Did you find it at a show, or with a vendor?

(Do I impress you would my knowledge? I am not as brilliant as I appear, LOL, I just have happened to have admired this cross in the past so I knew what color it should be)

I'm reading everything all of you write and some day I'll grow in knowledge but those are the prettiest plants I have ever seen. I have something like the first one only instead of red lines it has purple lines. With still a yellow back ground and a white center.

Clint, what makes you think this is Irene Dobkin? Every pic I've seen of that flower shows a solid colored image not a speckled flower...not this can't be a clonal variation but ???????
