    Hi Encik,
    Is it a species or a hybrid?
    At first i thought it was the chattalade form, Is it?

    I want it.... put me on the waiting list when it grow keiki please....

    Erly this one is species, in Malaysia they called it Cornu cervi black and probably chattalade, sure I will keep one for you if there grow keiki.Zain.

    This one is awesome! I especially like the white lip in front of the dark red - looks like a dove.

    Wow, Zain! This sure looks like a very rare color form of cornu-cervi. It would be Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi f. sanguinea. (Based on the latin, sanguineus, which means "blood red."

    I wasn't familiar with this color form, so I grabbed my Phal bible (Eric Christenson's Phalaenopsis: A Monograph). Here's what he writes about the form:

    "This phase of the species represents a nearly red flower brought about by the coalescing of red spots and bars. The pattern is still visible and a yellow picotee (narrow border) is still evident. The vibrant color is reminiscent of the red flush seen in most clones of P. corningiana."

    He writes that he only knew of this color form through a photograph in a book. From that, I'm assuming it's quite rare, although his monograph was published in 2001. It could be less unusual these days. But still, it's gorgeous!
