    Hi Sharath,

    WELCOME!!

    The technical definition for agar agar is:

    "solid substrate to contain culture medium for microbiological work"

    Now, if I understand that correctly, in the case of orchids, it's a growth medium that is used in flasked seedlings. Once you unflask the new little plants, the agar base would be rinsed off, prior to planting in other medium types.
