sounds to me like you may have done them a favour by unpotting them... leaving them when the roots are starting to rot would have been sure death.. but at least now they have a fighting chance!

fingers crossed and good luck Tess!

Tess, not this time!! You are NOT the orchid killer. Those silly BBs are the real killers. After reading so much on this forum, I have now promised myself that I will not be buying orchids from any of them again.

When I bought my Phal. Baldan's Kaleaidoscope, I didn't know enough to take her out of the pot and check her roots. I was just upset about the broken spike. Now I wish I had checked those roots, but since she's blooming and has new buds, that's on hold. I've got my fingers crossed, because she seems to be doing well, so I'm gong to stay optimistic and just keep watching her. Luckily, mine seems to be in bark (unless there's moss hidden beneath), and she seems really thirsty most of the time.

So, as Tim said, don't beat yourself up over what the store did. And you may very well have saved this one.

Hi, Tess! You did a good thing! Here is what I posted a few days ago: http://www.rv-orchidworks.com/orchid...w-orchids.html I was so excited! Yesterday I noticed my Harlequin wasn't doing well so I took it out of the pot. It was the same as yours. Very careful I removed the sphagnum and repoted. I have several other from the BBS but they are not in sphagnum so I hope they are fine (at least they look good). About my previous post: I had no clue it was that bad inside...Good luck!

Oh wow, Margo! Those are super duper pretty! Hopefully they all survived okay?

24 hours later and the phal blooms are still there... no sign of wilt... hmmm... too early to hope?

Just wanting to give you an update... almost a week later and ALL PHAL BLOOMS are still alive! Amazing. The buds even opened up so now it is more pretty!

I noticed that the moss dries faster now in the middle of the pot - before, it would be soggy even after a week. So, I finally watered them yesterday! Hurrraaayyy!

Hey, Tess, where is the picture? I cut the spikes and I have them in a vase. I got some more after that and repoted them immediately. They are all fine for now but one. I hope she'll be OK too.
