Yes, most of mine are well past their prime. But I do have a peloric Phal. equestris just starting to open. She blooms usually on and off any time of year. Both of my Phal. cornu-cervi plants are still going, but not a lot of flowers right now. They can pop out buds any time as well.

    Beautiful bloom.

May I ask a question about phals? I have one I developing small spikes. It's in sphaghum moss. And suddenly its leaves are turning an unpleasant soft texture, unlike the sturdy leaves on my other plants.

The moss is not wet. I check it, top and bottom. And the roots appear to be green. I'm going to guess that the plant may be dry, so I'll water it, and give it a bit of root growth.

But can anyone suggest what else may be going on? I'd hate to lose it, as it's the only phal that is showing spikes. All the rest have healthy leaves and are thriving plants, minus spikes.

    Thanks in advance.

I would be worried about rot if the leaves are turning soft. Usually when Phals don't get enough water the leaves get kind of wrinkly looking, but not soft. Can you post a picture?

Default What a lovely peach phal.

Personally, I am not comfortable with phals in pots, except when the medium is other than moss.
