    Yes I agree...

I have around 15 assorted pulchra plants in my grow area on different mounts and pots. There are 3 new ones that have come into bloom but the flowers are not as nice as the one I posted here.

I'll post photos of the other three as soon as I can get a good photograph of them.

    Hi Jojo and Randy,

In reality, Phalaenopsis pulchra does not flower in the hot lowlands. The reason we see pulchras in bloom when grown in Manila or other areas with similar climate is because they were a.) acquired with buds already formed (hence, the 'new ones' are always the plants that are in flower), or b.) flowering has been triggered by conditions not to their liking. The latter is called 'shock flowering' and is the result of sudden changes in conditions (including root disturbance) which prompted the plant to produce flower/s in the 'hope' that seeds might be set- this mechanism is a last ditch effort on the part of the plant to perpetuate its species should it go belly up, or leaf up for that matter. I would bet that no P. pulchra will flower again for the second or third time, on new inflorescences, when kept in the hot lowlands.

I know of growers situated at ca. 700 m elevations who still find this species difficult to bloom.
