Carrie, if something that beautiful arrived at my door, I'd be thrilled. She's just stunning. I love the colors.

Thanks everyone, I have wanted a violacea since I started collecting orchids so was thrilled to get this little one. I am sure I could detect a scent the day I got her but havent noticed anything since. Does that mean I have to keep her wrapped in tissue paper in a box in order to smell her

Thanks Darren, the flower is fading now but I have got to enjoy it for a while, Lets see if I can bloom her again next summer , anyone know if she is likely to bloom from the same spike?

    Carrie,

This is my first post here. That is a very nice flower! I would not cut off the spike unless it turns brown. They tend to send another shoot from the 2nd lowest node. As they get older they will increase their spikes each year. Be proud of the great care you have given it!!

    Dan
