I've always wanted to try one of these. Are they much harder to grow than the hybrid Phals? Also, how big are the flowers?

I bought one of these for super-cheap a year and a half ago. Of course, this was waaaay before I knew what I was doing. I got it to flower, but didn't like the short stem (not like other phals where the flower stem gets long and tall). The smell reminded me of fruity pebbles. It was a very beautiful flower, but I still managed to kill it. I potted it in Sphag Moss and then I let it dry out--not knowing that these like to stay VERY moist. It started to thin out, then my cat finished it off by eating the leaves.

I had to throw it away because there was no way of saving it. If I would get another, I think I would put it in hydroton.
