    Default Brassia Rex from Diane

About 3 years ago when I had just begun trying to grow orchids, Diane put some of her 'space hog' oncs on orchidbids. I won and got some great looking plants. Of course being a newbie I promptly killed one, but the others are thriving and now Brassia Rex 'Sukata' has bloomed! I love the look of the flower spray - like ballet dancers. Thanks to Diane for sharing her orchids. Enjoy.

Stunning! I always find it hard to photograph this type of orchid. Yours is really beautiful, Tami.

    What a wonderful description!!

I love the look of Brassia. Unfortunately, the little seedling I brought back from Costa Rica didn't make it. It was too small and I was too new to know how to save it.

Guess I'm going to have to get another soon.

Anne I hope you do get another one. This is in an 8x8 basket with some bark and rock medium. Good luck!

Wow, Tami, what a lovely display of blooms!

Anne, sorry you lost yours, but it may not have been your fault. When a friend of mine brought back six seedlings from Hawaii, she was warned that only the strongest seedlings survive the phytosanitation process. Three of the seedlings ended up dying. Scary chemicals, but apparently not as scary as what they are intended to kill. Anyway, I hope you will try again and that you will have better success next time.
