    Default Birthday Present finally in bloom - Bllra. Peggy Ruth Carpenter 'JEM'

    The Bllra. Peggy Ruth Carpenter 'JEM' I got for my birthday (Jan 7th) is finally in bloom! It came out a lot darker than I expected, maybe the bloom get lighter as they age?

    Thanks for the kind words.

    My grow area is on a window seat that has a Southern exposure. I keep the venetian blinds partly close to prevent the plants from getting too much direct sunlight. The natural light is supplemented by a bank of four 4' T5 florescent bulbs that I run for about 7 hours a day.

    I supplement the humidity with pebble trays and also run a room humidifier in the winter months.

    Coloration looks right to me -- I've seen them at several shows. Enjoy your posies!
