I think the wait was well worth it..... And the additional info I've learned from this thread is priceless! I had no idea that gigantea was so prone to crown rot.... I've got a big enough problem with my other phals and don't want to lose this guy! THANKS!

    swmboxer,

Mine is grown in very low light. maybe that's why only 2 flowers. The leaves were getting a very light green, so i gave it a few doses of fertilizer with urea, and the leaves greened up a bit. They are still on the light olive green side though.

Michael, mine is also a light green/olive color and I feed mine regularly and have it in moderate light... some phals are just light colored... I guess!

    Default Phal. gigantea

Here's mine. As you can see it gets a lot of sunlight for a few hours a day. The rest of the time it recieves extra light from cfl's.

Wow, that one is great! The flowers are so beautiful!

I also have a small gigantea plant which is growing very well on my windowsill. It still might take some years for it to bloom, so I would be very pleased with two flowers.

Hey Michael, very often, great achievements come from small beginnings. If this is a sample of what's to come, it's well worth the wait. Congrats, you have done so well your plant is giving you a glimpse into the future.
