Thanks Culanluasg, for the series of pictures of shielding phals from the rain. Very helpful indeed.

thanks so much Culanluasg. The idea of having plastic net around is to reduce temperature variation, am I correct? It seems like there is another layer behind the plastic net. With this setup the phals would not be getting any morning and afternoon light at all. Anyway, I'm seeing a white stuff inside the pot is it limestone or styro? Are the phals potted in soil (earth soil)? Thanks once again.

his orchid growing area was too small, only a narrow angle on the fifth floor, but it's nothing special

old document written by Phals, Phals with spike, which spend a low temperature and cold tolerance have enough time (18 - 20 degree C)
but experience has shown that simply changing the temperature about 4 degrees C in your planting orchids, can make spike of Phalaenopsis
I used pots of orchids the size of about 16 to 22 cm
to young Phals use pot size 6 - 12cm for culture, about two to three years, repot once

Simply means that the temperature changes in the garden about 4 - 6 degrees C is automatic to make a spike in Phals
Problem is how to produce more and more flowers only

sorry about that culanluasg if I'm not clear on my question. What I mean is if the medium used in the clay pot is soil? You mentioned that soil is good on clay pots with holes. I was just surprised to know that soil can be used on phals. Again thank you so much for your time to share your technique.
