Thanks all for the comments. catttan, I put just a tiny amount of sphagnum inside the shell. Not enough to cover the roots just enough to provide moisture for a couple of days. Most of the roots are out of the sphagnum though.

Beautiful .... I love the Phal lueddemaniana group ... i.e. P. Luedde var. purpurea, P. Luedde var. hieroglyphica, etc., etc.

I have a friend who mentioned to me that he was able to obtain a very rare form of Phal. Luedde - an alba variety. I can't wait to see that plant bloom and see for myself if it is indeed an alba form. I'm guessing it may have greenish-white striping ... maybe? If this is true that he has an alba form then this will be a very rare find as I have NEVER heard or seen an alba form of P. Luedde ever before! What a king's catch if this is so!

I think Ron has it because he lives in Leyte. Leyte has stable population of Phalaenopsis lueddemanniana and most of my Phalaenopsis lueddemanniana and Phalaenopsis hieroglyphica came from Leyte.

The alba form for Phalaenopsis lueddemanniana is Phalaenopsis lueddemanniana var. ochracea. There are 3 types of ochracea, pure white, mixture of yellow and white, and pure yellow.

    I really loved those plants.

    Thanks Decoy for the info.

BTW where can I get hold of an ochracea variety? Is there any vendor or local source in Manila where I can find this? You can PM me the info.

    Cheers.

hello tanya, if you don't mind i would like to ask your growing condition for this luedde to bloom? does your night time temp goes below 22C? how about day temp? i've been searching for tip on how to bloom this specie as mine has not bloom since I got them for over a year now and all of them are matured blooming size. at least they have bloomed from their past home since there are old spikes in them. they are just growing big and multiplied in my care but no flowers. this is one of the specie that is really tricky for me next to schilleriana, philippinense, & stuartiana. during december to february my night time temp goes down to around 22C to 26C. i don't fertilize with bloom booster. hope you & others can help me out.
