I bought this pretty little phal. from --- at the Redlands International Orchid Festival in Homestead, FL on May 15, 2010. Sorry for the picture quality, but the hue is true. This is the bluest Phal. I have ever seen....

Sorry about posting the vendor--I didn't realize it was not allowed, but I certainly understand why! Anyway, I just love this little guy--here it is in the middle of the hottest, most humid summer I have ever seen in Florida, out on my back (screened in) patio, with west exposure, and growing and blooming its little heart out.
It only blooms a few flowers at a time on each spike, but each of the nodes in the picture had a bloom on it, and the plant is sending out another spike for even more blooms! YAY!
I apologize that I don't have a camera that takes as beautiful photos as some of the others I have seen on these boards, but I am so proud of my orchids, that I have to post pics of them.

That is lovely. The deep color on the lip looks like purple velvet. Beautiful.

    Cheers,

That is a fantastic blue for a phal. Congrats on the acquisition.

Thank you. It is my favorite orchid in my collection (which isn't very large at the moment), but I am slowly adding orchids that I really like. I bought this for the color of the flowers, and didn't know much else about the culture. So it is a very pleasant surprise that it is tolerant of the Florida heat/humidity AND my orchid-culture-ignorance. LOL
