Default Phalaenopsis violacea var. Murtoniana 'Leprechaun' AM/AOS CBR/AOS

    Hey Gang,

Here is one of my all time favorite orchids, P. violace var. Murtoniana 'Leprechaun'. It is a controversial plant that all do not agree is a true and 100% P. violacea. I appreciate the unusual coloration and fragrance this cultivar has. Enjoy.

Thank you all for the very kind words. I am a Phal. species nut and especially enjoy P. violacea and P. bellina cultivars. It is very fragrant. There are certain times of the day when the fragrance is more pronounced. It is not overpowering like some of the P. bellina - thats my observation. Some P. bellina flowers are so sweet and strong, in my oppinion they are almost over powering to my senses. I do have several of the P. violacea var. alba. They are very lovely too. The flowers are right at 2" across.

I don't know how I missed this either and must say, I've looked at this picture about 4 times already today. That is just striking. I thought I was getting tired of phals, but I guess I haven't taken a good look at the species yet. That is just a beautiful flower. Thanks for sharing.
