Default Brassostele Aztec; not the most exciting thing....

Some orchids are better in reality than in the digital image, but even more are far more exciting in pictures than they are in real life . Or so I think.
This orchid - bought as an act of charity - i.e. we have a few dealers come to put on displays at my local Orchid Society when we have our twice annual show open to the public, and I try and buy something from each of them - they are supporting us, so we should be supporting them. Although I am usually hard put to , to find things I actually want - which is more to do with my age and experience and the collection I already have. Most of my serious "really want" purchases are from the dealers from far-flung places who come to the major shows - from Taiwan, Malaysia, South America etc...
Whatever ; I bought this plant in spike, earlier this year.In my greenhouse it is a dull thing - maybe the colours are too near the colours of compost and leaves ? The pic makes iyt look much nicer than I think it is . Which is what this rambling message is all about.
But what do you think ?

Some would think this was exotic and special...beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. I like the contrasts and the blooming habit of these. But I agree about the colors on this one. Maybe if the lip were a little snappier or something...

Geoff, I like this one. Especially the lip...it seems to be pink/orange stripped in the middle of the lip...Betty :-)

Honestly? I love the flower shape and the flowers are displayed well. However the colors do nothing for me. I do find it rather drab.

I agree with Paul. The shape of the orchid blooms and the patterning are great, but I like to see more color. I bet it would still display very well at a holiday dinner though.

    Cheers,
