    Default Oncda. Chaculatum 'Golden Pacific'

Our "secret santa" exchange at work netted me a small gift card to a nursery. I really didn't expect to be able to get much with it, but found a small orchid I liked, and that was in bloom. I've never heard of an oncidioda before, but I presume it takes care like most of the onc. intergenerics. It is in a 2" pot, but has a nice spike of 23 small flowers, and another small spike starting!

Good choice. Nice arrangement of the blooms on the spike.

A Cochlioda x Oncidium cross - I believe your assumption as to care to be correct.

Kathi , Cochlioda is a cool growing orchid, so Odontiodas like it as cool as many odontoglossums ; may not flower if you keep it too warm. Also they usually want more of a rest than most intergenerics, so when flowering finished I suggest you keep it dryish and put it in the coolest spot, until you see a new growth. They can be superb orchids - albeit smaller flowered than many odont crosses , but branched spikes on mature plants. If you can succeed with it, look out for Oda keighleyensis - my favourite.

I keep my odonts outside in the fall just as long as I can, longer than anything else except the cymbidiums - it is the only way I have been able to get blossoms on them.

So, I am getting the idea that it should summer indoors in the air conditioning (ie, when it is 100 degrees F here), and not go outside until we start getting cooler in the fall, eh? And stay there till it gets pretty chilly. Hhm..

This may be a hard one for me to re-bloom, but I will enjoy it now, then give it a rest and try to keep it cooler than the rest of my chids later. Thanks for the info!
