This is a spectacular Phally, The Name has changed though.
NEW name for this is ... Phal. tetraspis. It has been separated away from speciosa.

I saw pics of this ( among other) species when a lecture was given to my Orchid Soc., on the subject by a specialist ; and I asked this question; did not get a satisfactory answer - the problem being ( I think) that a specialist who is "into" herbarium specimens and the fine points of distinction which are used to say that this plant is of this species, and the next one- looking very much like it to the uninitiated- is of another species , does not actually grow orchids at all.....

But it is a lovely thing !

I agree with you. Phal. speciosa is supposed to be extinct in the wild.
Since few years, we see this type of tetraspis (the famous first one is tetraspis C#1). In 2006, I bought a standard tetraspis which appeared to be a "C#1 type", the 1st flower was all white.
All white, all red, everything is possible, even a single red spot. Some growers think that the expression of red could be influenced by warm temperatures.
    Beautiful flowers.
