    Default Oncidium cheirophorum

This is the smallest orchid I have by far. I just got it at the AOS show in April. It was in spike, so I can't take credit for the blooms, except to say I didn't blast them! The flowers are smaller than a dime. It is in a 1 inch clay pot, which is the smallest clay pot I've ever seen! I read that it is a Fall bloomer, so I don't know if the grower forced it, or if it is just confused? It is listed as a cool to intermediate grower, and likes typical Oncidium light.
My digital camera (or is it it's operator?) does not do well with close-up pictures (at least not of flowers this small) but it didn't come out too bad. It was the best of 10 attempts!

Wow--such a cutie. For such a small flower, it has a lot of punch. I love the brilliant yellow.

That is really cool. I like it a lot. I was about to give up on Oncs. just because of their size. I don't know why it didn't occur to me to start checking around for some of the minis. I did and found some really nice looking ones I must have.

Nice little mini, Matt! Didn't know they came that small.

For photograpy, if close-ups don't focus well and you've got good megapixel resolution, stand further back. The focus plane is less demanding at a greater distance and you can get the zoom-in resolution digitally afterwards on the computer.

Yeppers, this is about the smallest Oncidium. It's one of the parents of Twinkle which is also a good small Oncidium.

I don't think, though, it's really a terribly cool grower. It should do well in at least intermediate conditions.

    Cheers,
