What a lovely phal, Kathi! Really pretty. The color is great and I love how the orchid blooms sparkle.

    Cheers,

So, Kathi, this is what you do on your lunch break? It's a good thing I work 25 miles away from town with its temptations, or my lunches would be too expensive! The difference is, your "lunch" will look great for a lot longer than mine!

Beautiful flowers, and I love the name!

Well, I try not to go out too often. At least it wasn't fattening!

Ha!, there's a thought! Instead of the South Beach Diet or the Atkins Diet how about the 'Orchid Diet'. You eat nothing, but buy plenty of orchids! The pounds just roll off. AL

Can someone please tell me why over in the states, stores label their orchids with real names instead of (like here) the occasional tag with a description like "frilly creamy yellow" (this one was peloric) or "spotted grape on white"?

    Hi Jordan--

At the "big box" store I found this at, it was the only phal labelled with a real name (some catt bag babies did still have grower tags with names, but hidden inside the bag where you could not really see well). The rest just said "phalenopsis." Grocery stores usually don't have even that much info just "orchid," or my favorite: "exotic orchid".

Now, nurseries are different. The local nursery I shop usually has real names labelled. However, the big chain nursery around here sometimes has labels, but usually not. My guess is that they buy large lots of unnamed orchids most of the time. I wish they'd at least come with a tag that has the genus on it, as my friends all call me wanting to know how to take care of their orchid, without any clue what they have.

that is exactly my problem! people want to know the species etc, but i cant tell them what it is because there are no tags. Only two nurseries in NZ actually do use proper labeling, the rest are mass production factories, so tags arnt an issue i would imagine.

Love the color! And who could pass this up? Mine like this should be blooming soon, I can't wait.
