Another old classic Miltoniopsis hybrid ( or Miltonia , as they used to be called). These are all early summer flowering plants ; May/June maybe July are the usual flowering periods, although they have a slight tendency towards being independent of seasons like many of the Oncidium tribe. The silvery foliage suggests that they are xerophytic ( sun lovers) and I think my success with the group is probably due to the fact that much of my greenhouse is quite bright - as needed by my vandas, renantheras etc too.
Me too - I also am a sun lover -I like the heat,- correction - I love it - and spend the winter wrapped in an electric blanket ( my wife would tell you that I do have a tendency to exaggerate...)
They don't like cold any more than I do, , and get a peculiar orange colour on the bulbs and leaf bases when the temperature is less than they like, and are hard to grow out of that. Fortunately I don't actually turn orange myself....

Beautiful, Geoff. I have decided I really like these, and think I need to get some for my mother, as well, who always loved pansies and now is getting quite interested in orchids!

Geoff, if you ever want sunshine and warmth, come on over - we'll adopt you and heat those old bones of yours right up! In the depths of our winter, we cry and complain when it gets down to 50 - 60 degrees F (10 - 15 C)!! I suggest you wait until after summertime, though, because we're already in the 100F (38C) range, and don't want to bake you dry!
