    Isn't that cool? Did you see Dorsetman's recent version, too? BTW, it REALLY is called a Banfieldara - gives you an incentive to invent a new hybrid and name it after yourself, doesn't it?

    Since Brassia was established in 1813, only once (1863) has anyone suggested changing it (to Oncidium). Apparently everyone laughed at that so much that even the most desperate-to-make-a-name-for-themselves taxonomists have left it alone ever since. Unless all orchids revert to Epidendrum, Dendrobium and Orchis I think Brassia will remain Brassia. (Of course, now I've jinxed it, and it will be Oncidium next week.)
