Thanks Zain, Bill, Andrew. To be frank, nothing special for this guy. The only thing is I ensure that he does not get too much sunlight (direct that is). I try to keep him as humid as possible as in my area by grouping with ferns and other similar intergenerics, the humidity in summer plummets to 20s. Yes. the spike on this guy was very very slow to grow compared to my Bllra Peggy Ruth Carpenter and Mtssa.Cairus”New River”. They finished their blooms (Peggy Ruth has probably few more days on it) though they started to spike almost at the same time. I hope my intergenerics start to put out new growths like crazy now! I got most of these guys almost a year back (last October). I was keeping my fingers crossed as I heard most of the intergenerics don't do well in warm climates like Bangalore (hits almost 104 F in summer with low humidity). Now my headache is to not let them be too moist during monsoon, as they do not like to be wet near their roots.

The regular oncidiums are ill-treated by me they get the dry hot summers and lot more heat compared to this guy. For ex, I bought a Sharry Baby along with this, and it refused to spike when my other oncidiums were spiking. I roasted him for 2 days in direct sun for half-day each and viola, a spike appeared. The first buds have opened up yesterday on that guy.

thanks Satish...seems like you get good results either way....i have a problem with giving him tons of water but keeping the roots dry.....it seems to want tons of water during growth but i can never get it to him in time. Last years bulbs grew a little bit shriveled but this year seems to be fine. Tho the medium doesnt dry out enough...i think i might do a semi-hydro on this guy...
