    Hi all,

The difference could also be an artifact of the photo. Reds & purples often look a little "off" to me in photos of flowers. I've seen quite a few pictures of the 'Sweet Fragrance' clone that look more colorful (closer to purple or red, than the real maroon of the flower).

At any rate, I agree with Gin's comment about the slightly smaller size compared to other clones. For me, a further reason to consider this the best of the Sharry Baby plants!

    Cheers,

    Rob

How big are the blooms on your plant? I'm wondering if there's been an Onc. Twinkle Red Fantasy slipped in here...

No - what I was thinking was that I had been given a Twinkle Red Fantasy instead of a Sharry Baby. My plant is fragrant, but sure doesn't smell like chocolate (to my nose). The flowers are fairly small, 1 1/2 inches from top to bottom.

Gin, I'm not good of describing fragrances because in general, I don't like fragrances/ferfume. But the smell of Oncidium Twinkle reminds me of Lily Stargazer. My nose felt like its full of needles..LOL.

    Hi Diane,

Your plant is not Oncidium Twinkle 'Red Fantasy'. I have that plant and your flowers are larger & showier. I've only seen one Onc. Sharry Baby 'Red Fantasy', and that's a year ago now, but I'd say yours is very similar to it. As far as not smelling like chocolate, I really think fragrance is a subjective thing. Although I know lots of people who agree Sharry Baby smells like chocolate, I have never been able to say it smells like it to me. (And I know others who share my opinion.) Bottom line, I see nothing to suggest your plant is anything but Onc. Sharry Baby 'Red Fantasy'. Moreover, I wish we lived in the same country so I could beg and plead with you to give me a division of your plant!!!!!

    Cheers,

    Rob

Rob, well - - we could meet somewhere in Glacier International Park and make a swap...... :badidea: Of course if we were apprehended we'd probably be considered international terrorists attempting to institute some sort of sinister biological plot...
