    Default Miltassia Royal Robe

The id tag for this plant does not give a clonal name - I only know of 'Jerry's Pick' and 'Diplomat', but this could be neither. It matters because 'Jerry's Pick' has been awarded an AM/AOS, and I am taking it to an AOS judging today. The parents are, I believe, Miltassia Erachne x Miltonia Seminole Blood. I could use some input, but I'm going to take it anyway. It has two blooming spikes and 3 other spikes in bud. Individual flowers are about 6" vertically, and the taller blooming spike is 18 1/2" tall. It has 8 pseudobulbs, not including centered "backbulbs". No fragrance as far as I can tell, and I've read that it does, or should.

    Input, anyone?

No advice. Lovely flowers though. Another one of those plants that simply gets bigger than would work well for my space.

Guess what? My baby won an AOS award for this flower this afternoon. She won an HCC/AOS. There were 26 plants entered and some beautiful flowers too, but only 3 awards given and two of those went to judges - and the third - YEAH! SHE WON. I couldn't be prouder than I am. Of course I already knew she was special, but to win an HCC/AOS of her second time trying - well I am one proud husband. She will tell all the specifics I am sure after she e-mails her daughter after whom she named the award winner and her parents. She'll show up soon, but I just couldn't wait to tell the news. What an exceptional woman!! oh, and the flower was pretty nice too. YIPEE! Abby's Wonder is the name. Awesome

Default HCC/AOS!!!! Miltassia Royal Robe 'Abby's Wonder'

All your good wishes worked, y'all! My Miltassia Royal Robe won an HCC/AOS at the AOS judging table today. I got to name it - after my 20 year-old daughter Abigail, a pre-med junior at Columbia University. The flower is almost as beautiful as its namesake!

My FIRST American Orchid Society Award! What a thrill! I can't believe it! (And it was NOT already a named clone, so it won on its first try all by itself.)

Here's the initial certificate - I'll get the real one and a ribbon, I think, in the mail.

This was a lot more fun than I ever thought it would be....

I wouldn't have this without all your support (and Phillip's constant devotion)! Thank you!
