    Default Reviving Phals

    Hi this is a late reply to Raver, here is a revived Phal. philippinensis which I bought from a vendor who got it from another. It came from the Isabela forests I was told. Anyway, it died as water crept into the crown.

    I revived it by soaking its roots in water for 2 weeks. The crown still way above water. Then emptied the plastic container for 2 days and added water again for 3 days. After 4-6 weeks, it has grown a new crown. The only requisite was that the roots were still green.

    I hope this helps.

    Yes, I have tried it many times. The reason was I lost a favorite Phal. to rot and tried all sorts of medication to no avail. So, I thought if these Phals had died in the forest, what would happen if rain continues to pour? I so embarked on an experiment with nothing to lose and everything to gain.

    And, fortunately it worked. So, I share it with all the Phal. loving growers.

    Excellent growing & revival & super photo too!This is a tough & lovely species! I very much look forward to seeing updates on how it's doing;
    Congrats again and please do keep us updated!

    Ps: I have had one for years but the poor thing has fallen several times and lost parts of leaves... attacked by mealy bugs.. yet it hangs on in there and faithfully flowers once a year, it's in spike now which I wasn't counting on @ all after it's misadventures of the year!
