Cool Psychopsis mariposa alba, still blooming and Prosthechea boothiana in sheath

I am so happy with my butterfly orchid! I have never had one of these make it so long and do so well. It accidentally got uprooted today, so I put it into a clay pot to help keep me from overwatering it. In spite of the storm blowing it around and me uprooting it, it continues to bloom and has two new buds coming along behind this one. There is also a new growth poking up. If this keeps up i'm going to have to quit saying I kill oncidiums. I've also got an Prosthechea boothiana (previously Encyclia), looking like it's in sheath. I'm not familiar with how these bloom so i've been watching the new pbulbs grow. Its called the "dollar" orchid....(should be silver dollar orchid), due to the shape and size of the mature p-bulbs. I find the plant to be rather pretty with the new growths...and cannot wait to see the flowers.

The name on the orchid species website called this Prosthechea boothiana so it may have been re-named recently from Encyclia.

Love the beautiful yellow butterfly orchid bloom. I have never replaced my Psychopsis orchid after it bloomed itself to death. I really would like to get another one. I guess I should add it to the list. hahaha...

    cheers,
    BD

Lovely psychopsis alba. I have the mariposa GV and now I will definitely add the alba to the wish list as well.

Thanks everyone! I have had so much fun watching this one. I have another flower beginning to open and this one is still looking nice and fresh. I moved the plant way close to the overhang area of the porch. It is taking high cattleya levels and the leaves are still this dark. I'm beginning to wonder if the other plants died from lack of proper light levels. That or I "starved" it to death. I spray this one every time I spray the vanda lately. I'm slow, but i'm learning. lol
