    Default Magenta Phalaenopsis

Okay, I admit it, I broke down a few days ago and bought myself a $10 phal. The amazing thing, wouldn't you know it, is that I'm just as enchanted by the intense, elusive color of this mass-produced noid, as I have been by many (no, not all) of my more pedigreed orchids. It's so perfect it's almost eerie, and capturing this color - not pink, not cherry, not purple, but something in between - with my Nikon has been a real challenge. Anyway, this is the shot that gets the color closest to the real thing. I don't think the photo shows the satiny sheen, though. Not a rare delight, but a delight nonetheless!

It is a beautiful photo, Maura. Lovely phal. I have a phal orchid that is just going out of bloom now that is similar in color. So nice.

    cheers,
    BD
