    Cool Trichocentrum Ollie Palmer

The heat has been brutal on buds and spikes, but a few seem to be not only handling the heat, they seem to love it. The mule ears are some of the most beautiful oncidiums. I love the way my girlfriend describes these type flowers; she says they look like they are made of jewels.

Very beautiful Connie! I also have this one, and I have come to like it very much, especially the vanilla scent mine has.

Yes, I have read about your heat waves, worse since the 30's, our newspapers said ; all due to the jetstream, which has also given us the worst summer since the same time ! My strawberries rotted, the raspberries set no fruit ( no bees flying when it it is rainng, i.e. almost 24/7 , and so on..) . But the garden in general is so lush, the main tool needed is a panga to cut your way through the new jungle. The English rain forest ! More rain in June than ever before since rcords began in 1692; the wettest July on record too I shouldn't wonder. We are at last promised some sunshine next week, and the daytime temperature in Southern England may rise to the giddy heights of 24 degrees... So a different set of problems here in growing orchids !
Never mind Connie, it is all very character forming, and my word, if it is giving you magnificent mule ears, then it truly is an ill wind which blows no-one any good. .

I hadn't put a specific name to the scent, but it is delicate and pleasant. I think everyone should have one of these. The flowers are so pretty.

Very nice! I've been a fan of trichocentrum for several years. I don't see them offered for sale very often. I like the fragrance which often lasts for several hours each day. Your's is beautiful and obviously well grown. Good job.

Thank you. I will have to give the credit thus far though to someone else. This is a recent purchase. I was not leaving without this gorgeous plant. My other "mule ear" is doing so well I caved when I saw this one. I love these. In the sun, like my friend once said, they look like jewelry. I love the flowers, even if the leaves look like an old mule lost an ear. lol
