I love the Tolumnia. If you don't cut the spike they keep blooming and blooming here. Mine are resting right now... I like your choice in colors...very pretty! (...although honestly I don't think i've ever seen a Tolumnia I didn't like. lol!)

Cute Tolumnia blooms. I killed both of the ones I tried to grow. I let them get too dry.

    cheers,

the foliage is always red, i guess that indicates the plant has good light to bloom?!

Congrats, that is indeed a very pretty Tolm.

@ Aimey, I have a couple Tolm. plants with red flowers and they have lots of green leaves.

@BD, They are very tricky to grow (at least in my conditions). I killed a few until I decided to pot ther up in very small pots with a mix of fine grade Leca and river rock. You have to make sure that thy neither dry out or are too wet. Buy a couple more and try again. As Connie said once they spike they keep flowering on that spike for a long time.

I love them! My tolumnias are mounted and they are doing fine. I water them daily.

i have 2 tolumnia, one is doing great, the other is still adjusting. it came with dead roots mostly, and has gotten a little crinkly looking. i mist heavy every morning, and have moved them into 3" treefern pots with fern fiber, sphag, and some lava gravel. the first rooted in pretty well, waiting for the second to decide wether or not it likes it. i love these little guys and their cheerful blooms. very hard to keep here, it is too dry. i mist the whole plant, as i discovered that the leaves have roots down between them. that has seemed to be making a difference. the red color is from too much sun. more sun better blooms though... i like to keep mine a little more shaded, but they get the rosy tinge to the leaves too and so far bloom pretty well. i find these also respond well to bloom boosting fertilizers. they can bloom very small if fed the right stuff. i've had no rebloomers from the same flower stem here though yet, but each new growth eventually has a stem of flowers. they do not react well to sudden changes in light, and can be slow to recover.
