Default Oncidium Ornithorhyncum For Color And Fragrance

I have had this orchid for three years and it blooms every year. This display is much better than last year. The plant is carrying two spikes (One in bloom) and over 60 buds or blooms so far. If you like the scent of lavendar soap you'll love this oncidium! AL Name: Oncidium Ornithorhyncum and Paphiopedilium Pulsar 'Fang Pacific' 003.JPG

I love this little one! I'm absolutely addicted to the fragrance. I hadn't made the connection to lavender, but I love that scent also, so I guess it makes sense.

    Nice one, Al.

Lucky you, I have struggled with aphids on the same plant for 2 years and no blooms, now I have split the once healthy plant into 3 and treated with alcohol, dc-tron and just plain vinegar. 1 down and the other two seem to be recovering....fingers crossed and inspired by your success...
BTW where do you grow this plant, does it prefer warm or cold conditions?

Hi nix; I grow mine warm (62 degrees F. to 80 degrees F. year round). Bright indirect light. Water every three days all four seasons and fertilize with Michigan State University Fertilizer for Well Water, 19-7-23 at 1/2 strength weekly. Every other week I use Fish Fertilizer with Seaweed in place of the MSU Fertilizer. It grows up in the rafters of my green house. Thats it! I sincerely hope your plants come back strong and bloom for you! AL

I believe your so right as to adaptation Zain. The orchids often have to 'settle in' to start to do really well. That can take sometime..........................AL
