    this is how I bought this colmanara last winter

    this year the flowers are larger, and with different red/white ratio in the colours

    That change is probably due to differences in temperature and/or light levels when the buds were maturing, and I'd bet the plant was kept warmer and/or not as brightly under your care.

    Red pigments are particularly sensitive to those differences.

    Agreed. I noticed this when we were getting red / red brown oncidium type orchids in bud from Hawaii and blooming them out here in Arkansas. Depending on the temperature when the buds formed and opened made a difference in the color. I remember posting a photo of some oncidium that had both the bright red blooms and darker blood red/brown red blooms on two spikes on the same plant.

    Thanks
    this year there 12 buds on the spike (last yaer were only 7) the flowers are larger, and the colour red more intens, and a slightly different pattern of white- actually more of a butter yellow
    this year it bloomed under growing lights
    I enjoy the improvement
