Default Phal Dragon's Gold always in bloom or bud.

Phal Dragon's Gold '24K' has been an amazing orchid. It had blooms on it for nine months last year and it always has either blooms or buds. It blooms in the spring like any normal phal and then it continues to produce buds on the end of the old spikes. About every three months new flowers open. After the first flowers fade it has two or three new flowers on each spike through the rest of the year.
Then in the winter and spring it reblooms with more flowers on last year's spikes (that's what you see now. New flowers on 18 month old spikes) and also new spikes are produced. You can see three new spikes that have not yet bloomed.

What a beauty!! Awesome. You must keep it very happy for it to bloom so much for you! Do you fertilize it with a bloom booster or with a regular fertilizer at all? I've always heard it's best not to fertilize plants when in bloom, and I've had a couple of instances where I fertilized a blooming plant and the flowers promptly fell off (could have been coincidence, though). So what do you do with a plant that is always either in bloom or preparing to bloom?

I fertilize this phal along with all my other orchids. It's a very vigorous growing plant so it probably needs a lot of fertilizer. I do use bloom booster once a month in the fall and winter but the rest of the time I use a low phosphorous fertilizer and a seaweed extract supplement.

Very nice yellow! How well does it hold its color? (For those not familiar with yellow phals, on many the color quickly fades.)

I know what you mean about yellows fading over time. This one holds it's color well. In fact the flowers get a little darker as they age.
