Beautiful blooms. How do you keep it from rotting growing it in water?

Beautiful Phal. Congrats on your success in using that growing method. May I ask how long have you had that plant in deep water?

Hi - Thank you! it won't rot in the water because these are "water roots"; new roots grown in the water. Before I placed this in water, I cut off all the roots. In a week or two, new "water roots" started growing. The roots are adapted to the new environment so they will not rot.

Hi there Angela. Thank you. I have grown this in water for about 6-8 months now. Since I put it in water, it has grown 2 new leaves, a spike and now flowers!

Hello Bumblebee. It's my easiest orchid to care for out of all the rest (I have a variety of orchids planted in bark medium, sphagnum moss and hydroton clay pellets). I have over 20 orchids This method was such a success, I just transferred another very healthy orchid into water medium. Hope that is as successful. It's very simple, I just cut off all the roots and placed the orchid (above the crown) in tepid water with a little fertilizer added to it. Once in a while when I see the water is low (about once a week), I top it off with more water. I NEVER change the water. There is a green algae that forms and I believe that aids and feeds my orchid so I never clean out my water or put new water. That's it!
