Default my two new Phalaenopsis violacea

Just got in from a land, far far away...

This next one came with a torn petal, but the colors are stunning (to me at least, ha ha ha)...

    Default Thank you, Diane.

the secon d plant is actually a present from my vendor. It is the alba that was a purchase.

I am a bit apprehensive about these two because I have had three bellinas rotted out on me.

Is there a problem if I give them sunlight and moisture that the othe rphals receive?

I keep mine a little moister than my other phals, especially higher humidity. So far, it is doing okay, second spike coming up!

Would you mind sharing where you got your P. bellina var. alba? I have been wanting one for some time. I've had difficulties finding a source.

    Thanks.

Default I am sorry about the labelling.

I was presented with two P. violacea var. alba, the Sumatra form and the Borneo form. The Sumatra form had more pointy or acute petals and sepals, with the Borneo form being more rounded.

In hindsight, and following the taxonomic developments, the Borneo form is more conceivably P. bellina var alba.

They were from Taiwan; I do not think that is very practical for you to source.

Very nice plants , especially the alba(i,m jealous ).
My Phal bellina is in s/h & gets far more light than my hybrids
about the same as my Phal gigantea. They seem to enjoy direct sunlight
as long as the leaves are cooled(fan blows directly on them).

Really - are you a grower or do you have some special permits? Or are you just connected to the right people? I wouldn't mind getting some plants from Thailand and Taiwan...
