A plant I bought at a show last week ; the cross is what used to be called Odontoglossum praestanss, now Onc.praestanoides ( I have no idea why it has been changed so much in the specific part) and which contributes the starry shape ; the other parent is Onc noezlianum, which those growing before 2005 ( when all the DNA based name changes started) will think of as a Cochlioda

Recently I have been growing this type of thing in S/H but they have not done too well, so I have potted this into sphagnum moss and Perlite mix.

The name Oncidium praestans had been previously used for another plant, now known as Gomesa curta, so it couldn't be used again or things could get even more confusing. Thus the change to praestanoides ("looks like praestans").

Assuming the goal of the cross was to get the color of noezlianum and the shape of praestanoides, it worked. Nice one.

Lovely colour, not the usual oncidium colour.
