Very nice! I guess I am less of a newbie now as I saw the picture before reading and I knew it had Milt in its blood-line!

Thank you. I hope the closed spike opens soon and I can enjoy all the blooms open at the same time. It's a shame though that after blooming they all die upon me. I've never managed yet to rebloom a Miltoniopsis. I had one in S/H that was doing great and all of a sudden, from one day to another it was completely rotted away. I think too cold.

i think it may be your watering schedule that has them rotting.
my miltonia is still very small with two mature bulbs only and one new growth, i keep it in a shade house where the minimum temp at night goes as low as 4c and still no sign of damage, if I'm not wrong they are cool growing orchids. I water them only when the media looks dry.

It was in S/H, so no overwatering, I'd say. It was doing very well with a big new growth with lots of new roots on it and all of a sudden, gone. I know they are cool growing plants, so they have a bad time in summer here, that's why I put her into S/H to see if I could give the roots a lower temperature. I don't know what exactly went wrong but I won't give up on them though. One day I'll master their culture and I'll be enjoying them for years.

I thought they were like oncidiums, easy to grow orchids, had i knew they are very fussy type i wouldn't buy them, and they are costly too.
Anyway I'll try my best to make them live and flower.

The first one is almost certainly Bllra Marfitch "Howard's Dream". I got one about a year ago, and it has a new spike.
