    Cool Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi

Once again, I am shocked this plant is still alive. It just loves to bloom over and over...even with the "suicide spike" growing from the top of the plant. I don't know how but am loving this never ending supply of flowers! Originally this was an experiment. I used big chunks of Styrofoam as potting material and nothing else in a clay pot. I may try a couple of my sicko phals with this method.

And another that just happily blooms and blooms. I need to repot it this fall or next spring as the sphagnum moss is looking nasty these days.

    Love them both.

I have a Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi that has done nothing so far. It has not declined in any way but has not grown any new leaves of spikes. Perhaps the leaves it arrived with have increased in size, but I have it hanging so it is not easy to tell.

I also have a Psycopsis Kalihi alba 'Green Valley' that looks nearly identical. The first flower didn't fully open. I hope the next one does, I am going to have a tattoo of it done.

Both are beautiful! I'll try the styrofoam-only method on some of my sicko phals too. I'm very impressed with the health of your cornu-cervi.

I had bought several species phals in the past and failed miserably. No matter how I tried to pot them they rotted. When I mounted them, they shriveled to nothing. I had pulled a sick phal out of it's potting onetime and thrown it into a pot holding shredded Styrofoam I was planning on using and forgot about it for a few days. When I remembered I needed to repot the poor thing it had grown nice new roots next to the foam. About the same time this plant arrived at my home and I decided to try it out. The clay pot was to keep extra moisture wicked away, while providing a cool area for the roots. I need to clean it up and repot it with some clean Styrofoam. Maybe it will give me a keikei. This is one plant I keep hoping will keikei and so far nothing. It is kept with the vanda's, in a slightly shaded corner and sprayed with the same stuff I use on my vanda's. It can handle more sun, but it prefers to be underneath a few other plants on a lower shelf.
