    Default Miltoniopsis Lycanea 'Stamperland' FCC/AOS

This is the milt I bought at the NH Orchid Show last Friday. It had 14 buds on three spikes, and four are currently open, and two are opening. The fragrance is wonderful early in the morning!

Beautiful! *sigh* I've tried growing milts a couple of times ... I always kill them.

If this is representative of what was at the show, I can now say that I am sorry I missed out on it!

    Hi Atester,

There were lots of plants for sale on the preview night, but most were phals and some paphs. A sprinkling of the other stuff. I wasn't overly impressed. The prices were up there (no bargains, but then the bargains come on the last day when the prime stuff has been picked through.) I knew there'd be decent milts from this vendor, because they had some left on the last day last year. No variety to choose from, but this was exactly what I was looking for, so that was ok!

I think there are online vendors with much better quality plants for fair prices. If there's something in particular you want, PM me. If I can help, I'll gladly do so. By the way...how's your schedule? I've essentially finished the consulting thing I was tied up with. We can schedule a trip up to the Dartmouth Greenhouse at your leisure!

    I concur! Excellent purchase!
Fragrant miltoniopsis, I just start growing them! A bit fussy for me but we shall see!

Can you control the temp of your greenhouse, Hoa?

I would have thought these colder-growing milts wouldn't be happy in your neck of the woods.

The greenhouses tend to be too hot for them during the summer/late spring/early fall, unless you have a cool house (greenhouse) for cool growing orchids. I am much better at controling the temp/humidity in my greenhouses now so I want to give these guys another try. I have seen people at orchid society meetings exhibiting amazing specimens of these miltoniopsis. The green houses are too hot for them during the summer but the outdoor patio is too cold for them during the winter!! But after reading this, you would figure out the solution already!
    Cheers. Hoa.
