They take a stem from Meri and give in to some clone in the lab......

I might try crossing siblings or a selfing , I don't know a lot about the meristem process , except Diane is almost right . I think they use a growing tip or ? from a plant it is agitated to seperate the cells , they are transferred to sterile medium ? I might be (choke) wrong . Gin

    Most strange.
My peloric noid phal i bought last summer is still in bloom , it is flowering from a side branch of a side branch. It has another spike that i broke the growing tip off & now has 3 branches with the flowers just opening. Some are very peloric & some are normal & some inbetween.

I just looked it up on Wikipedia. Ugh - I forgot how dull I found botany in college. Give me eyeballs anyday! I think you've got it, Gin. The undifferentiated meristem cells are each capable of growing into a full plant. Like stem cells in animals.

It's also why my orange minicatt won't be growing a new growth this spring. I knocked off the tip of the emerging growth while I was repotting. Should have saved it for cloning - I could be surrounded by millions of them by now. Billions!

Here is a picture of my peloric Phalaenopsis. It is P. Brother Lancer. The petals have mutated just enough to give them ruffled edges with a nice yellow dot in their centers. Flowers are nice sized and very pleasing. Enjoy.

That is a surreal flower! Daliescue. Very weird, but very cool!
