    Default Phal. amabilis var. grandiflora

his was an inheritance from an old friend a couple of years ago. The flowers are slighly over 5" in diameter. Truly, they're the largest flowers I've ever seen a phal sport. This one grows in an East window in my office and pretty much starves for light thru the winter but still blooms. Next year I'm putting it on my light stand and hopefully it'll have more blooms (5 currently) and a longer spike.

    Wink Photography...

    Thanks guys..

    Julie,

My photography skills aren't that great, but thanks to digital cameras, rank amateurs like me can take 20 different shots and then pick the best one.

I don't think any collection is complete without an amabilis. Hopefully oneday I'll find var. vinicolor.

No, But i have seen similar plants in bloom during the last Flora Filipina joint orchid and ornamental show last February 24- March 6 in Intramuros.
The plant was owned by Cora Purificacion.

The flowers are larger than the ordinary Phal amabilis which is also found from the island of Palawan, Balabac, Sulu, Tawi-tawi in the Philippines and in Indonesia, Malaysia parts of Australia and New Guinea.

Sorry, I did not have any camera shots to post it here.
