    Default BAK Cotton Candy

This is one of many ( I can't help myself ) orchids purchased at an Orchid Show. Name: BAK - 1.jpg

Size: 48.6 KB The name is based on the tag so as past experience has proven to me it could be wrong. Plan on growing it like an Oncidium. I would like to hear how those of you in high temp and high humidity how you grow yours.

I bought one of these at a show earlier this year. The current name is Aliceara Clownish 'Cotton Candy'. It is a multigeneric hybrid composed of equal parts of Milt. spectabilis, Brs. verrucosa, Onc. wentworthianum and "other". It likes medium light and intermediate temps based on my research.

So where does the BAK come from? Oh well, I will rename it per your advice and grow accordingly.

Bakerara (=Bak.) was the original name but anything with that name has to have Odontoglossum in its background in addition to the three genera I mentioned above. Because of taxonomic changes regarding Odontoglossum, this genus is no longer considered to be involved in this hybrid, technically speaking. Aliceara is used as the hybrid name when just the three genera listed above are in the background.

Were you aware that any name that ends in -ara has a minimum of three genera in its background?

Personally, I thought the hybrid name of Clownish was very unusual.
