    Default Phalaenopsis marriottiana

Now I know this name will seem strange or wrong. It has been created by the RHS because of the re-naming of what was, Hygrochilus parishii ( prior to that, Vandopsis parishii)
Since there was a Phal parishii, in their wisdom the RHS has used the name marriottiana which was either a variety of or a separate species to parishii ie var marriottiana. What has happened to this, I have no idea. I dot they do either...

This is taking it's sweet time to open. I'll post when it is. 8 buds, right at high end of expected count also. First flowering from a seedling.

Very nice Roy. That is a weird looking Phalaenopsis when you look at the plant, what were they on when they renamed this one??

Very nice.. I have a small one, got it a couple of months ago. Took a while to get going (lost 2 leaves, down to 2 leaves), but produced a couple of very thick roots and new leaf coming up. Seems to be a pretty slow grower, like rhynchostylis.

I agree Li, slow growing here & if it's slow growing in the tropics I'm very pleased with how it is for me now. This plant would be 8 inches (200mm) across. Must be a "very" old plant to be classed as a large plant.
