    Cool Tolumnia 'Cherry Red'

After no spikes for 2 years this is the second spike since September. There is but one growth that hasn't bloomed on this Tolumnia left. I don't know if a fan Tolumnia can bloom more than one time.

Not a big flower count but I don't care.

Pretty Harvey! Going to search this one to see the plant better and find out what family this orchid belongs to. Again, trying to learn. Very pretty flower!

Didn't see a lot online to educate me or I'm just impatient. The flower looks like a miltonia and the plant reminds me of my brassavola nodosa. Are all of these related?

Actually, no. It isn't related to Brassavola nodosa. Maybe a distant cousin to Miltonia.

It was in the past known as an equient (sp) Oncidium (comes from near the equator). Now I think it is just considered an Oncidium. Some agree that it is (the flower is very oncidium like) an Oncidium, some say it isn't.

Like Harvey said, Tolumnias used to be called equitant oncidiums/ Oncidium section variegata.
Really love the colors on the blooms! So bright.

Thank you! Yes after further inspection the flower does look like an Oncidium.
