I bought this about 21 months ago, in bloom. It is my physically largest Phal with leaves up to 16 inches long. Tons of roots, both air and in pot. This is the first rebloom for it since.
And what a blooming it is!
A nice spike with 8 buds/flowers with a potential for 9 and 4 branches with 8- 12 buds. So it can end up with 20-25 flowers.
Great phal Harvey!
And what an awesome rebloom it is! Nice Harvey!
That is one nice phal. I'd trade in all of mine for just one like that. Did you do anything that might have contributed to getting it to rebloom like that?
Nearly 20 months of steady care. I did a lot of talking to it, saying 'Just speak up if you want anything you aren't getting!". It never spoke up. But it grew very nicely in terms of leaves, leaf size and roots. It is among a group of orchids that goes to the shower at every watering. And gets K-Lite at 1/4 teaspoon/gal. It never went outside during the summer. But sits by an east facing window.
Believe me when I say I was somewhat frustrated that it wouldn't bloom. But with this spike, it made up for it!
Now that is one big phal, great growing Harvey!
Now 17 of 20 buds are open.
What a bloom for a non greenhouse phal! And don't you love that it will be gorgeous like this for such a long time? I love phals; the perfect houseplant.
