    Default Phal. pulcherrima

    Flowered this a couple of years ago for the 1st time. Plant is better & I thought spike was better. It was till it changed its mind. Looks ok though.

    Beautiful Roy! How big is the plant and the flower? Whenever I'd thought of Phal.'s before I'd always pictured jungles and fog. Apparently not all.

    That's a great url you posted. It really shows the natural envir' the plant comes from. My conditions are only just acceptable even though I've had better results than this example.

    Well, yours looks a lot happier than the in situ plants. I think the biggest challenge we face as orchid growers is getting as close as we can to a plants environment

    Very nice.. Yours looks like a var. chumpornensis, but that usually has a white background instead of pink. This variety usually is much slower growing and reluctant to clump compared to typical pulcherrima. The ones I have seen flowering in local nurseries are all exposed to high light (vanda level).

    Chumporensis, white with gold is one of the parents, the other is a filled in, flat red pulcherrima.
